Authorisations management rebuild
Perekan (now G3 SA) was engaged to assist our client in rebuilding their SAP authorisations across their various platforms which included instances on version 4.5B and 4.6C as well as APO, BW and SEM. This rebuild was to assist the company with internal corporate governance audit requirements.
Perekan firstly completed a pilot study project using the Parent/Child Activity group model in conjunction with the HR organisation structure objects. This project was completed in 2 months from start of Activity Group build to business sign-off. There were approximately 40 users in 4 user-groups affected by this roll-out.
With the effectiveness of this model having been determined, Perekan then rolled it out onto systems with the same platform. This project was completed in 6 months from the building of activity groups to the distribution of information ownership areas and support after phased go-live activities, and included approximately 1000 users, divided into 40 user-groups.
The benefits of the above model include:
- A very flexible means of distributing authorisations to users within an organisation
- A simplified model in order to move users from one position to another within an organisation and provision of the required access.
- A easily maintainable and structured manner in which to create and extend authorisations.
